Buckhead Atlanta

Project Description

Project:   Buckhead Atlanta
Contractor: Balfour Beatty Construction
Owner:   OliverMcMillan
Location:   Atlanta, Ga

Comprising six city blocks, Buckhead Atlanta totals 1.5 million square feet including 300,000 square feet of retail space comprised of restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and entertainment venues. Working with over 100,000 square feet of custom office space, 370 luxury residential apartments in two high-rise towers and 2,400 parking spaces, the Buckhead Atlanta project has become one of the largest urban construction redevelopments Atlanta has ever seen.

Balfour Beatty Construction contracted with Sinclair Construction for the turnkey construction of the concrete foundations for what was once known as The Streets of Buckhead. Situated within Atlanta’s posh Buckhead neighborhood at the intersection of Peachtree and East Paces Ferry Roads, more than 50,000 vehicles pass the development every single day.

The project was divided into parcels and the total duration of all parcels for our concrete scope was about (1) year. In that time Sinclair was awarded Contractor of the Month which recognized proper work planning and the execution of that work plan safely and successfully. Sinclair Construction performed construction of the pile caps, shallow foundations, cast in place walls, slabs on grade, place/finish of elevated slabs, underground water detention and electrical power vaults and misc. site work.

Project Description

Project:  Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Contractor:  New South Construction
Owner: Atlanta Botanical Gardens
Location:  Atlanta, GA

Construction for a new Café building and addition to the existing Garden House Office is all part of a multimillion dollar revamp project entitled “Nourish and Flourish”.   Since its’ incorporation in 1976, the Atlanta Botanical Garden has undergone many expansions and added attractions for the entire family.

New South contracted with Sinclair Construction Group for a turn-key concrete package including layout, shallow foundations, concrete walls, slab on grade, spread footings, turndowns, place and finish, slab on metal deck, pan -filled stairs, elevator pit, piers and curbs. Use of conveyor trucks and boom pumps were critical due to lack of space and access.

The mission of the Atlanta Botanical Garden as a non-profit is to develop and maintain plant collections for display, education, research, conservation and enjoyment.

Project Description

Project:  Delta Sky Club
Contractor:  New South Construction
Owner:  Delta Airlines
Location:  Atlanta, GA

Sinclair Construction was called in to take over the foundation pile caps in an effort to acceleration production. The project had fallen approximately 30 days behind schedule due to the lack of performance from another concrete subcontractor. Once we completed the pile cap work in quick fashion, New South Construction gave us the opportunity to bid on the remaining scope of work. This project was very challenging and required superior pre-planning efforts and coordination on everyone’s behalf. Gates were closed to prevent airplanes from being in the way and the majority of the work occurred at night in an effort to limit interference with air travel. The new Delta Sky Club was soon back on track due to Sinclair’s efforts.

During the week of Thanksgiving, which is the busiest time of the year for Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Sinclair worked all night for 2 days straight to place the slab on metal deck. This would allow the steel erection to begin the following week to keep the project on schedule. Sinclair pumped 342 cubic yards of concrete during that time period all while having to escort concrete trucks in two at a time.

In addition to the pile caps and (4) 35′ x 66″ diameter column encasements, which support the new Delta Sky Club, Sinclair installed ~25,000 SF of rebar reinforced concrete slab on metal deck. Sinclair was also tasked with miscellaneous work inside of Concourse B which included column supplements, new elevator pit, mechanical pads, pan filled stairs, topping slab and bollards.

Delta SkyClub Project was honored to receive the 2016 ACI GA Chapter 1st Place in Special Category
