Averitt Express Loading Dock Expansion

Addition of approximately 50,000 SF of concrete paving and incorporation of 44 new bay doors to the existing terminal located off Fulton Industrial Blvd. Sinclair provided turnkey concrete foundations and flatwork services for the duration of the project working closely with the Contractor on all aspects of the construction and development of the site.

Our turnkey approach included saw cutting, demolition, and disposal of existing asphalt and concrete paving for building pad and new concrete paving. Sinclair Construction exported approximately 200 loads and imported approximately 350 loads or 3,500 CY of fill dirt for placement and compaction behind loading dock walls for the loading dock slab on grade.

Our services also included erosion control, layout, shallow excavation, footings, cast-in-place walls, piers, backfilling of walls, subgrade installation and compaction, slab on grade and concrete paving. The place and finish portion of the work totaled about ~26,000 SF of 8” wire reinforced concrete paving and ~20,000 SF of 6” fiber reinforced slabs for the new loading dock.

The concrete slab on grade on the dock level incorporated the use of Forta-Ferro fibers into the concrete mix design at a rate of 3 lbs/CY to control cracking and add long term durability. Since FORTA’s beginning in 1978, its fibers have played an important role in the design and construction of many different types of projects.
